Three nights in Venice

venice italy

My summer holiday this year was a 10 day trip to different parts of Northern Italy. The start of that was Venice. And what can be said about Venice.

Easily the most beautiful and romantic town/city I’ve ever been to. Your Instagram feed would thank you for going. Everywhere you turn there’s old, rustic, Venetian charm.

I love that nothing is done by halves and nothing is modernised. The variety of colours covering the houses, the marble stone look-a-like covering the churches, and seeing police boats never gets old.

It’s a completely different way of life, and I love it. Read More »

Graduating from university

I graduated last week.

That’s such a weird thing to say/type. Who knew that four years down the line little ol’ me would be graduating with a first class honours in English and Film & Media.

At the start of uni I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, four years to figure it all out seemed reasonable. Now that I’m actually here I’m clinging on to the unknown by doing a masters degree. Some wonder why not get a job already instead of having even MORE debt. Some think I’ll go on to do a doctorate. But really I just want to get a little bit more clarity about the adult world before I dive in head first. Read More »

A Foodie Visit to Newcastle

newcastle town centre

If you read my post from last week  you’ll know that last month I got the chance to have a couple of nights in Newcastle. And whilst I’d love this to be a complete action packed guide to the city, it’s not.

I didn’t really know what sights to see, and I had a lot of uni work to do, so a lot of my time was spent in a coffee shop with my laptop. But the rest of the time I went for little ambles around and enjoyed the delish food! So this is more of a LOOK WHAT YUMMY FOOD THEY HAVE more than a look how cultural and cool the place is.

Here we go!Read More »

Spring fashion wish list

Wish list time!

I haven’t done one of these in foreverrr! I’m really happy with this one because they’re things that I’ve been lusting after for months, so I know I definitely want them. My thinking is I’m going on holiday at the start of June so, basically, these are gonna be my suitcase staples.

I’m all over the trainer bandwagon, and I think these Adidas ones will go with pretty much everything. They’ll last ages as well so they’re perfect for all year round and holiday exploring. The cropped trousers are something I’ve just opened up every so often to just look at. I think I’m slightly in love with them. I’ve looked everywhere for a pair that beats them but I can’t find any so it’s meant to be. Read More »

Life lately #2

What’s this?? Two posts in a week?

If you read my last post you’ll know my dissertation is over which means I have time to do life again. Which seems like a weird thing to say but I didn’t realise how consuming it would be. In a job you can go home and switch off for the evening, with a dissertation you get home and still have thoughts and ideas whirring round, so you never really stop working.

It’s pretty tiring. Again, I didn’t realise how tiring until I’d handed it in and spent the rest of the day in bed needing a nap.

It’s been a while since I last wrote one of these rambles, so I wanted to write a little update on what’s been keeping me busy the last few months!

Obviously the dissertation is most of what I’ve been doing but I think if I talk about that any more I might go a little bit insane.

I’ve had a couple of city breaks to Newcastle and Lincoln (posts to come soon!) My boyfriend was away for work training in both places so I made use of the free hotel to do some exploring by myself! Both places are very different to one another, both equally as lovely to visit.

I’m saving up for masters starting in September which is exciting! Super weird to think I’ll be living in London in a few months, much different to quiet old Stirling. So I’m working as much as I can before I need to move back home for the summer. It’s gonna be horrible to leave work, they’re such great people that I work with, I’ll be sad to move on.

My fitness is something that’s been changing the past few months as well. I mentioned a while ago that I’m doing a 5k colour next month so I’m just training for that. Yesterday I managed to run for 25 minutes constantly which completely blows my mind to think just before Christmas I was barely reaching 10 minutes. I still have a while to go but I’m improving in every run, and now I’ve no dissertation taking my time I can focus a lot more on it. I’m excited about it! This time last year I would have laughed if someone said I planned on doing a 5k run. How times change!

And now… well now I’m enjoying my last month in Stirling before life moves on. I’m going to work, I’m reading (for fun!!!), I can now (hopefully) get a schedule back for blogging. Then summer! I can’t wait for summer. I just want some heat. It’s been quite warm the past few days and I’ve been able to sit outside reading and it has been amazing. It’s those simple pleasures. My boyfriend text me yesterday saying I’m a summer baby, and I really am. I’m just happier in the heat and I can’t wait.

So that’s a little catch up on my life! Hopefully my posts will be a lot more frequent now, at least until September. Until next time!

20 thoughts during your dissertation

stirling university dissertation

That big scary word that looms throughout uni and then all of a sudden you’re 7486 words into your own.

I handed mine in on Monday and it’s safe to say I had the wide range of emotions that come with it. But I can’t explain how good it feels to have it all finished. My undergraduate life is over, which is both exciting and terrifying. And I wouldn’t be here without my good friend dissertation.

9 struggles of painting your nails

painted nails barry m

We’ve all been there. We all know the story.

When I painted mine last week I realised that I have pretty much the exact same thoughts every time I do so.

So here’s a post all about them. To make me feel better, and hopefully share the pain with some of you.

(Side note – I’m about half way through typing the post and it’s making me stare at my nails in mild anger, it’s not really making me feel better).Read More »
